“the perch” was written during a period in my life where I felt the truest pits of unrequited love for the first time. It gives truth to the exhilaration and utter exhaustion that came with falling for a friend and the inevitable contemplation of regret that came afterward.

From as early as four years old, songwriting has been an integral part of my processing and expression. And this song is one of the many that have stemmed from that central purpose.
